GLUSHU Glue on Horseshoes

GLUSHU Glue on HorseshoesGLUSHU is the most advanced aluminium shoe, over molded with a flexible cuff. This gives the horse a light, hoof supporting, cushioned shoe which eliminates any stress or damage to the horse's hoof and is easy to apply.

GLUSHUS are non invasive, completely eliminating the risk of hoof injury due to nailing.

Why use GLUSHU glue on horse shoes?

  • Easy and fast to apply.
  • Uses a fast acting glue.
  • The cuff allows the shoe to be glued in stages.
  • No need for any special equipment.
  • Simple sizing system.
  • A large range of sizes.
  • No alteration needed
  • Eliminates the risk of stress when nailing into a thin white line with poor hoof wall
  • Cushions the feet.

PREPARATION

Use nitrate or latex gloves when preparing and gluing the shoe.

prep1

Trim the horses hoof as normal

Make sure the glue and shoes are warm 20-30 °C (75-85 F)

prep2  Wire-brush the hoof, sole and frog to remove all dirt and debris - this will enable a better glue bond.

prep3 With the edge of a rasp, using downward strokes, rough the surface of the hoof giving special attention to the rear part of the hoof as this has the least gluing surface.

prep4 If wet or damp dry the hoof using a hot air gun or torch - Most glue failure is due to moisture in the hoof.

prep5  Wire brush the hoof again to remove any dust.

 prep6

Check the fit of the GLUSHU including the heel for overreach and adjust as necessary - it should be a good fit not loose. You can adjust the shape of the shoe as you would a normal aluminium horseshoe.

APPLICATION

When using glue-u shu-fit glue, fit the cartridge and plunger into a standard diy caulking gun and attach nozzle.

app1  CRITICAL - EXPRESS THE GLUE UNTIL IT IS GREY BEFORE YOU APPLY. IT WILL ONLY WORK WHEN IT EXTRUDES BLACK

app2  Put a medium bead of glue around the inside base of the shoe. Also put generous beads of glue on the inside surface of the cuffs.

app3 Holding back the side cuffs, slide the shoe along the hoof, aligning it with the frog and adjust to the correct position, gently pressing the hoof to the cuff - do not worry if the glue oozes out of the cuff. This can always be rasped off when the glue is set.

app4 Hold the hoof until the glue is completely set. Approx 5 mins. The glue will be quicker in warmer temperatures and slower in cooler temperature - It is very important the glue bond is not broken whilst curing. Many farriers use a hoofstand to take the weight of the hoof

 app5

You can use a hot air gun to help speed up the process in cold temperatures. When the glue has set place the hoof on the ground and fill any areas not glued around the cuff.

After the glue has set you can rasp to tidy the look of the hoof.

IT IS ADVISABLE TO LET THE GLUE CURE FOR A FURTHER 1 HOUR BEFORE RIDING. THE GLUE WILL OBTAIN FULL STRENGTH AFTER 24 HOURS.
